Palmer gives plenary talks in Australia and South Africa: Professor and Director, Margaret Palmer is traveling to Australia and then to South Africa to give research presentations at the 10th International Ecology Meetings in Brisbane, AU (http://www.intecol10.org/) and at the DIVERSITAS Open Science Conference in Cape Town, SA (http://www.diversitas-osc.org/). She is presenting aspects of her work on restoration of freshwater ecosystem services and how this intersects with the effects of climate change on freshwater biodiversity. Portions of Palmer’s presentation at the Australia conference also appeared in Science magazine. Her current work focuses on the need to shift restoration to a processed-based science that restores ecological functions since multiple studies have recently shown that a habitat-focus is inadequate.
